Patrick R. MacQueen, ESQ.

Founding Partner

Attorney Patrick R. MacQueen is a founder and name partner in MacQueen & Gottlieb, PLC. He graduated with honors from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in finance. He then moved on to the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where he was valedictorian of his class.

Patrick’s 11-year legal career has been highlighted by work primarily in the areas of real estate transactional law and real estate litigation. He recently prevailed in oral arguments in a trial before the Arizona Court of Appeals and served as local counsel in the $129 million acquisition of the City North development adjacent to Desert Ridge Marketplace in north Phoenix.

Patrick moved to Phoenix after law school and began practicing in 2006 at Lewis & Roca as an associate. He moved to Mack Drucker Watson in 2009 and was there until 2013 when he took a position as inhouse counsel for one of North America’s largest land developers. Patrick is also able to assist the firm’s clients in both Arizona and Michigan.

He was selected to the Southwest Super Lawyers Rising Stars list for the sixth consecutive year in 2017. This prestigious designation is given to no more than the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in any given practice area. The selections, made by the research team at Super Lawyers, is based on peer nominations, and as such, is one of the most coveted designations in the legal profession. He also was a nominee for The Phoenix Business Journal’s prestigious Top 40 Under 40 designation in 2017. Patrick is also an approved instructor for the Arizona Department of Real Estate.

Patrick and his wife, who is also a Michigan State graduate, have been married for 12 years and live in Ahwatukee. They have two children and a dog.

In his spare time, Patrick is an avid and accomplished amateur golfer. He played collegiate golf at Michigan State. He continues to play competitively as his schedule allows, and maintains a “scratch” handicap.

Benjamin L. Gottlieb, ESQ.

Founding Partner

Attorney Benjamin L. Gottlieb is a founding partner of MacQueen & Gottlieb, PLC. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in finance from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, with high honors. Following college, Benjamin went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University where he was a Pedrick Scholar and served as the managing editor of the Arizona State Law Journal. In the latter capacity, Benjamin was the recipient of the Outstanding Managing Editor award.

After gaining several years of legal experience at both large and small law firms, Benjamin formed his own firm with partner Patrick MacQueen. He felt there was a better way to deliver legal services, which combined the use of technology, state-of-the-art legal software, and out-side-the-box thinking to provide the best client experience and results possible.

Benjamin has extensive experience in real estate and civil litigation, as well as corporate and transactional law. As a litigator, in just the past two years, he prevailed in a 3-day jury trial involving a hotly-disputed landlord-tenant dispute, where his clients were awarded 100% of their attorneys’ fees and costs; prevailed in a 3-day jury trial involving a quiet title dispute in which his clients were again awarded attorneys’ fees and costs; successfully handled a 2-day bench trial for clients who were awarded significant compensation for a private taking of an easement; and prevailed on an appeal at the Arizona Court of Appeals, affirming a trial verdict obtained in a landlord-tenant case.

Benjamin has also served as lead counsel in: major residential flooding litigation; complex litigation involving a homeowners’ association in Prescott, Arizona; easement/private condemnation litigation concerning homes in Cave Creek; and commercial landlord-tenant litigation on behalf of the owner of an urgent care facility.

Benjamin was selected to the Southwest Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in 2017, a designation given to no more than 2.5 percent of the attorneys in any practice area. The attorneys are chosen by their peers.

Benjamin and his wife of five years live in Chandler with their two children and dog. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.

Brandon Bodea

Law Clerk

Brandon Bodea joined the MacQueen & Gottlieb staff in February 2017 as a law clerk. His focus will be primarily real estate and property law.

Brandon is scheduled to graduate with his Juris Doctor degree from Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in May 2018. He carries a 3.91 grade point average, is ranked in the top five percent of his class and is the articles editor for the Arizona State Law Journal. He received a full tuition waiver based on his undergraduate academic standing and his LSAT scores.

He earned his Bachelor’s Degree Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA in Political Science from ASU in 2015, with a minor in Philosophy. He also added a certificate in International Studies. The Fountain Hills native was on the Dean’s List in every semester he qualified as an undergraduate, was awarded the ASU Academic Achievement Scholarship four semesters and was a Moeur Award recipient.

He graduated from Fountain Hills High School in 2011, where he first met his current girlfriend of four years, Haley Santiago. His parents Robert and Freda still live in Fountain Hills, and his sister Jessica is a doctor completing her residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

In his limited amount of spare time Brandon enjoys reading, especially Stephen King novels, hiking with his dogs Scout and Scrappy, and working on cars. His current project is a 2015 Mustang GT.

Bodea put his political science education to work in 2014 as an intern in U.S. Senator Jeff Flake’s Phoenix office where he developed case work, assisted and interacted with constituents, worked on the phones and organized data. He said his interest in politics and current affairs could lead him to a run for political office in the future, starting at the local level.
